Crazy Day for Universities

So today there were a bunch of rallies at different universities protesting steeply rising costs of education at state schools. There were people arrested in Madison, some guy was apparently tazed in Milwaukee at a rally, and this huge rally walked from Civic Center up Market Street in San Francisco. And to think, come this fall I could be one of the underfunded!

What Union Square does best. It was as loud and noisy as can be, but peaceful. What really disturbed me was that the police were all asking each other if they knew Spanish and looking really concerned when none of them did very well as if the band playing in the shot I took here were about to incite the crowd to start beating up the bystanders. The rally organizers kept speaking over the microphones in Spanish, but the crowd was pretty docile for a rally.
