Mama D's New House

This is a picture of the living room and dining room in my mom's new house. Can I just stress that it's huge? I actually had taken a video tour of the whole house to post here and show you, but the file was so large that Blogger, Google, and YouTube all refused to let me upload it....and that should give you an idea of how big this house is.

Mom will probably be a little put off that I'm posting this, since they aren't unpacked yet, but that's a chance I'll take.

Harley Fest

Motorcycles in front, motorcycles in back. This picture's posted a few days earlier that it was actually taken (sorry for the discrepancy). There's just way too many motorcycles on the road right now for comfort.

City Hall

Once a week I get to go City Hall to pick up a few community papers for work...I'm always taken with the view going upwards, towards the Common Council Meeting Hall and other city offices. The outside's not so pretty right now as they're restoring the outside and it's all covered in scaffolding.

Roommate

I found this little guy had moved into my room to stay, into one of my plants to be specific. I think he's kind of gross but I didn't have the heart to squish him.

Apartment Tour: The Housepet

This is Jill's dog, who is our housepet. She's cute, but she barks at anything that moves. I realize now that she kind of blends in with the blanket here in Jill's bedroom.

Apartment Tour: The Pantry

Clearly the most important part of the kitchen. This house is so old that we're all sure that there must be lead paint on the walls under those few layers of latex. As Jill says, we're all taking extra care not to lick any walls inside the place. Hopefully the landlord painted over the pantry cabinet before we moved in.

One last shot from the bed...that little board next to the door is my budget for the month written out, so that every time I leave I am reminded of how little money I have left to spend on clothes...mostly it works. Other times, however, it is not an effective deterrent.

Still my bedroom...clearly not put together or decorated yet. The mattress in that shot is the first big thing I got for the place and it makes me quite pleased. This shot is mostly to show you all that my room is down the hall, around the corner and down a step from the rest of the place.

I have three plants, that so far I have not killed...pretty miraculous stuff for me. This is my bedroom, which is down a long hallway and around a corner from the rest of the apartment, which is on the second floor of an old white Victorian era house. The walls are all butter yellow and I have two little windows and a nice sized closet. And the plants, well, for now they are still alive.

I moved into a new apartment! I share a place with two friends, Jill and Brian, and we live on the East Side. This is the living room: we've got a Bay Window, a fake fireplace, and a pretty sizable common space. It's sunny and breezy and I couldn't be happier about it.

Yohe, a Very Japanese Car

Cristina's little sports car. His name is Yohe, and Cristina is almost phanatical about taking care of him....she parks him in the farthest, most remote parking spots so he won't get scratched. Now that's love.

Cristina's Dad's cat, Sylvester. Never have I met a more fat or discontent cat. I mean, look at him, he just looks like he's grumpy. And like he has high cholestoral.

For My Dad

Found this little do-dad at Rice's Flea Market....this takes a little explaining. My dad and his side of the family is pretty taken with those old claymation Christmas movies, like Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. Herbie, one of the elves in that movie, really wants to be a dentist. And my Dad breaks out his best Herbie impression every Christmas season. So Dad, this one's for you.

Adventure Day

Cristina and I had adventure day while I went to visit her...and our first stop was Rice's Market, a mix of a flea market, garage sale, and farmer's market. They have yummy lemonade, weird knick knacks, and off-the-back-of-the-truck fancy clothes.

State Fair

Just horsing around at the Wisconsin State Fair- where the attractions include sheep, cows, pigs, horses, every kind of fried food imaginable (including oreos) and a milk stand. Only in Wisconsin. Side note: horses scare me, but this guy looks as scared of me as I am of him.
