One Last Adorable Kitten Picture

One fat and full kitten (named Jeff, which seems like a random name for a cat) passes out after raiding the Meow Mix.

Walk for the Cure

I raced for the Cure in Milwaukee this year, and wore a little tag in honor of my step-grandmother Susan, who is currently kicking breast cancer in the ass.

Milwaukee River Challenge

A picture from the women's heat of the Milwaukee River Challenge, a professional crew race that runs up the length of the Milwaukee River and through downtown.

An Ode To Our Indoor Fort (In 2 Parts)

My roommates and I have lived in our apartment for over a month, and we still haven't managed to clean up our moving boxes. Brian and Jill had the amazing idea to construct a fort out of the boxes, but alas, we all lack good old-fashioned follow-through.

It looks like our crazy box-fort will never be realized.

He's Sad Because We're Eating Him

I found this awesome pumpkin-shaped cake pan at that French superstore, Target (with a silent 't'), and proceeded to cook this abomination in it. It looks nothing like a pumpkin, which is probably why the face on it is so sad. Or because we're eating him alive.

Outing

Here's a slice of a picture of Dan waiting to get his pizza served up to him at Classic Slice, one of the reportedly best pizza places in Milwaukee. They serve thin-crust, East Coast-ish pizza that took me back to late nights eating Amore's and Ben's pizza in NYC. The pizza wasn't as good, but the company definitely was.

Let's Put the Cat in Things: A Reprise (Part 2)

In a continuation of the wildly popular series, Let's Put the Cat in Things, I bring you one of the Scerpella kittens...possibly the most adorable Cat in a Thing yet. And yes, that's a bowl being held up by two monkeys. In fezzes.

Let's Put the Cat in Things: A Reprise

This Scerpella kitten actually put himself into Dan's sweatshirt, so maybe this doesn't count. Cute never-the-less.

Attack of the Small Furries

Dan's parents have a whole bunch of kittens running around their house right now: they're damn cute, until they try to climb up your leg with their tiny, razor-like claws.

Dan at the Museum

Another shot of the bridge at the Art Museum that juts out over Lake Memorial Drive. I messed up the settings on my camera and caught Dan walking towards me. He looks all ghostlike and blurry like this. He thought he looked a little like a subject for an Edvard Munch painting, but I think he looks like a picture in a trendy art magazine ad.

Night at the Museum

Went for a walk tonight with Dan around the plaza surrounding the art museum. I think it's a shame people don't take advantage of downtown Milwaukee more often because it's really quite gorgeous, with ample green space and benches to relax on. It made for a nice shot, but it's just too bad.

Lunchtime Snack

Just a picture of the Paleta that I had with lunch today. There's a happy little man who comes around in a cart with all sorts of flavors of these made-of-100% fruit popsicles. Naturally, when I heard I could have mango and strawberry at once, I was on board.

A Myth Busted

So one of my coworkers contends that there aren't any large size Mr. Good Bars out there, just mini size. I totally believed him, too, until this late-night snack run to Walgreen's. Lo ad behold, regular size Mr. Good Bars. That's just delicious. And magical.

Un Mouton Finds a Home

Monsieur Peluche, my favorite stuffed mouton (sheep) from Mont Saint Michel, France, finally settles into my new apartment in the Midwest of the US of A.

Culinary Prowess

More food, I know. This is a shot of the Manicotti Dan and I cooked up for my Dad on Friday night...it took us a good while to figure it all out but it was a really good time. We followed it up by cooking up some cinnamon apple topping for ice cream (like delicious crustless apple pie a la mode).

The Flowers That Dan Sent

Just because I rock, Dan sent me roses. They came in a huge box, are multiple shades of yellow, pink, and white, and are altogether gorgeous.

The Best Damn Milkshake in Milwaukee

Stop what you're doing, right now, and go over to Patty Burger on Farwell Avenue. No lie, this Peanut Butter Chocolate Milkshake that Dan and I got on Thursday night is the best damn milkshake in Milwaukee. It's quite possibly the most god-like milkshake I've had in my entire life as well. The creamy taste of ice-cream and Reese's like peanut butter stays in your mouth long after the milkshake has been devoured.

UPDATE: I know a lot of people come across this post who aren't from around here. Patty Burger has, sadly, closed it's Milwaukee location. My runner up for a darn good shake in Milwaukee would is probably Kopp's, a fantastic frozen custard place that has thick, delicious shakes and some unique flavors of the day for frozen custard.

Why Everyone Loves Midwest Airlines

They may be on the brink of bankruptcy, but Midwest serves a damn good chocolate chip cookie. I ate these warm and gooey ones on the way home from Kansas City.

En Route

The sun was setting as I flew home from Kansas City on Labor Day. Not a bad shot after a great weekend with my mom and stepdad.

Another Buggy Picture

This was really taken on the 1st, but it shows a grasshopper that decided to take up residence in Mama D and Chris' entryway for a few days. As a side-note, I feel like my blog is being overtaken by a preponderance of photos of bugs and food. What does that say about me?

Old School

Looking through an old box of high school nostalgia items, I came across the first cell phone I ever owned. It's as big as a sunglasses case, which is shown at the bottom of the shot.
