A little catching up...

So I've been rather lax lately, as you can all tell from the last two posts where I tried to cram a bunch of pictures in to make up for my laziness. With any luck, this will be the last of those posts. However, to get the job done, I'm including pictures that were taken a few days ago and such. This first one here is one last picture out my window in New York City the morning I left (Friday, May 16th). One last look at the other apartment buildings, the other NYU dorm, the courtyard, the purple trim on my university dorm window, and the morning sky.

next picture Dan will surely kill me for posting. It's one more picture proving I now own a spiffy little convertible (albeit used, but who's asking?). My ipod recently broke down, so there was need for an epic adventure out to Mayfair Mall to take it to the Apple store there. And if I disappear in the near future, it's because Dan saw this picture of himself on the internet...

This last picture isn't horribly exciting, but I had to document this in some way. I went to the driving range yesterday to hit around a few golf balls, and let's just say it was pretty awful. I hit a fair few a good 100 yards, but for every one of those shots, there were five that bounced along the ground or went a grand total of 5 feet from the green I was standing on. I doubt serious attention to my swing would produce any better results.

A Banner Day

The crowds cheer as my pal Fred carries in the College of Arts and Sciences banner. He carries that banner with class, doesn't he? (Side note: this is from the NYU Commencement today at Yankee Stadium...pretty cool stuff).

Silly Parents

Silly parents, trix are for kids...and cheesy hats are for photo ops!

Racer X

Dad models his character sheet...right before this he called my Uncle Doug (ten years younger and clearly Speed Racer in this analogy) to tell him we were at the movie.

Pomp and Circumstance

Sometimes a good graduation ceremony is in order. Today me and some bright minds donned purple robes and graduated from NYU in a ceremony in Madison Square Garden. Other than getting to graduate, I have to say that the highlight of the whole thing was when the girls behind me started the wave...and they got the whole student section to do it, and then the teachers did it....and then the parents did it...

A Few to Go

I've been realizing that I only have a few days left in the city to take pictures of the city itself. My dad is staying in a hotel up by Columbus Circle and I took a few pictures of it before heading back to my neighborhood.

Rainy Day Shopping

Cristina and I went to waste some of our hard earned cash shopping in SoHo. Luckily for us, it was a lovely day that looked like a monsoon outside. We were inside an Urban Outfitters when I spotted this impromptu umbrella rack.

Mint Mouthfuls

Cristina and I would highly recommend you pick some of these new mint crisp M&Ms up at your earliest convenience. They taste like minty deliciousness, and each M&M has a different little Indiana Jones inspired picture stamped on it. We devoured one that had fedoras, whips, temples, and treasure stamped onto them...pretty spiffy if you ask me.

Last Night's Adventures

So last night I explored NYC a fair deal (let's just say I walked around the city for a good four hours and put in something scarily close to 7 miles) but this by far was one of the night's highlights. In Washington Square Park, about a dozen people seemed to be engaged in very serious light sabor duels...no sound effects, sadly, but none the less exciting to watch.

Award Winning

This is a preliminary celebratory shot of my pal April at the NYU College of Arts and Science Awards Ceremony. She picked up a medal for her work in Media Criticism, and I took home the European Studies prize for my thesis work. Compared to alot of the other kids there (Phi Beta Kappa, University Grant winners, etc.) her and I looked a little like idiot savants. Congrats, April!

Anticipation

I'm thinking I should go to the doctor and get my head checked out....every time I see an advertisement for this movie I hear the theme song in my head.

Park Scene

Some proof that summer is coming...already people are camping out on the slightly existent grass in Washington Square Park.

Kelly's Couch Nap

It's a Saturday afternoon, and Kelly is taking this opportunity to nap on our couch...this way, she won't sleep all day (or so she says) and will still wake up at some point. I'm not so convinced, but I do love how she's managed to perch her glasses on the back of the couch.

1/2 of New York City's Longest Strawberry Shortcake

In an effort to be a prestigious academic institution, NYU once a year wisely holds a festival in honor of spring finals, fellowship, and NYC's biggest strawberry shortcake. I, however, am not one to complain if free food is involved and ate my fair share of this year's extravaganza. Alas, this picture only shows about a half of the cake, which was mostly eaten by the time I got out of work and made it to the festival.

Rally

What Union Square does best. It was as loud and noisy as can be, but peaceful. What really disturbed me was that the police were all asking each other if they knew Spanish and looking really concerned when none of them did very well as if the band playing in the shot I took here were about to incite the crowd to start beating up the bystanders. The rally organizers kept speaking over the microphones in Spanish, but the crowd was pretty docile for a rally.

Makes Me Sing of Summertime

Ok, so St. Mark's isn't the classiest of streets, but it has it's own personal charm (and neither is it as sketchy as some other New York City avenues I've had the distinct pleasure of walking and mingling with the rat population on). This shot, taken on my way home from an evening class, made me realize I'm going to miss summertime in New York--rats, garbage, and all.

Construction Site

While on my way to the subway on Fulton Street, I noticed that the city had taken it upon themselves to use some of this street--which had already been constructed on--for its municipal parking lot. As New Yorkers tend to be a stubborn bunch, no one seemed to see a need to reroute themselves around the heavy equipment.

Self Portrait 2- Rainy Days and Mondays

This is me in my window's reflection and outside is the courtyard my apartment faces, as well as the rain coming down outside. A classy addition to this photo: the top of my Febreze bottle. Because classy is just my style.

You want what? (Sunday's Post)

Again, sorry about the delay in posting. This was intended to be Sunday's post from Saturday night's NYU Senior Formal dance. Every time I look at this picture of my friends Megan and Greg, I notice that this is the same face Greg makes every time Megan makes any sort of ridiculous request...mild mannered yet a little confused. Adorable.

Chris and the Klondike Bar

One more picture taken in our lovely apartment living room! This one features Chris Timmel and a damn good Klondike Bar...he's making that dessert sandwich look rather sophisticated, don't you think?
