East Side Walks: Monkey Business
Sometimes, a little monkey business in order. And sometimes, there's a little monkey randomly hanging out in a tree near your place of business.

Just the right size
Shot from driving on a short day trip over the weekend: I guess they get a lot of junk mail out on highway 120 headed towards Lake Geneva...nothing else to do way out there but send away for mail order catalogs, I suspect.

Weekend Recap
Friday
Ale baked this amazing, amazing fruit tart from scratch (as in, made the crust and all) and it came out delicious- more delicious than most store bought tarts I've tried in my day. What an awesome way to celebrate the end of the work week!
Saturday
In Milwaukee, we love us a good rendition of "Roll out the Barrel." Here, the bartenders and last few customers at Halliday's bar on Farwell get into the spirit and polka their way through the song just as the bar closed for the night.

A State Fair Post
Everyone knows by now that I'm not the biggest State Fair fan ever, but who can pass up the flavored milk at the Senator Herb Kohl milk house? I went to the State Fair with my dad, who's a big fan (the other must-do thing on our list is always the Lion's Club roasted corn stand). This year Dad and I went on the last day of the fair, and some of the flavors were already gone by the time we got there:
I thought the sign was kind of funny, but my dad pointed out that they spelled guerrillas wrong, like Che Guevara guerrillas and not gorillas like our evolutionary cousins. Still I guess handing out milk can only be so entertaining, and as I got my pint of chocolate flavored milk I heard the workers listening to Business Time. Nice, very nice.

Chopstix
This is very consciously a shout-out and shameless plug for the Chinese take-out place on Farwell Ave., Chopstix. I'm not sure if they're under new management, or have a new cook, but the last two times I've ordered from them the food was ridiculously fresh, delicious, and generously portioned (I was totally sold when I saw they gave me an extra crab rangoon). Deliciousness.

The Peanut
She's about the size of a peanut...my newest cousin, Stephanie. She wasn't due until this week, but she was born July 13th. She's finally home from the hospital, but still tiny enough to look like a real-life baby doll. In the picture is the proud dad, my Uncle Steve, who is by no means tiny or peanut-like.

Fashionable in Bay View
Now, Bay View is known for being the hang-out of those hipster and artsy, but these fashionable fellas were gracing the streets on Friday night outside the Highbury on KK. They had no problem telling me they were the best looking revelers in the bunch (and not the only ones in togas) and were more than happy to inform me where one could pick up some spiffy powdered wigs.
